MANGALORE : A building housing three shops that has been raised by the Mangalore City Corporation after demolishing a part of the compound wall of the Government Higher Primary School and High School at Shaktinagar in Padavu village, has given room for several doubts.

Though the compound wall for the government land coming under the school was raised a few years ago, recently, the MCC had all of a sudden demolished a part of the compound wall to facilitate the construction of the building. Locals say though the MCC had reportedly held discussions with the school committee in his regard, it is still not clear if the amount accrued from the auctioning of the shops, would be utilized towards the development of the school.

But a more serious allegation has come in from a few locals who say the local corporator Shakeela Kava was behind this reported illegal construction. Interestingly, a compound wall for the school has now been raised behind this building making it clear that this is an illegal building. However, so far none have raised any objection to this building.

A local has informed The Canara Times that there is no clear cut reply from the corporation as to whom the building belongs to and if the auction amount of the building would be utilized for the development of the school.
