Kunjattur tense as police jeep rams into two-wheeler injuring 2

MANJESHWAR: The situation in Kunjattur near here turned tense on Tuesday night when angry public resorted to road block and pelted stones at police vehicles after a police jeep which chased a two-wheeler on pretext of inspection, collided against the vehicle and injured the two riders.

Reports said the police jeep chased the vehicle from Talapady to Kunjattur. No sooner the bike reached Kunjattur; the jeep hit the two-wheeler from behind. It is learnt, the cops fled the scene no sooner the two bike riders fell onto the road.

If the bike was badly mauled, the two youth were seriously injured and admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.

The injured have been identified as Suresh (45) of Manjeshwar and Chandrahas (35) of Mudimaru. It is learnt the condition of Chandrahas is critical. But the police failed to respond to the incident even after two hours of road block by the agitated public. When they finally arrived, the police jeep was stoned at forcing the cops to resort to lathi-charge further aggravating the situation.

Security has been tightened in the area following the incident
