Somasekhara panel term extended

Posted on Mar 31st, 2010 and filed under Local News.

MANGALORE: The State government has extended the term of the Justice Somasekhara Commission probing into the church attack cases, by one month.

March 31 has been the last date for the Commission to submit its report. The Commission was constituted on September 19, 2008 in the wake of the series of church attacks in Mangalore and elsewhere in the district on September 14, 2008. The Commission had earlier appealed to the government for an extension of term as several witnesses were yet to be heard. As of now the Commission is yet to enquire over 200 police personnel and officers.

It may be recalled here that the interim report submitted by the Commission recently had clearly pointed out at the role of the Sangh Parivar organizations behind the attacks.
