BELTHANGADY : An incident in which four youth were grievously attacked by a 15 member gang right in front of the house of the young woman with whom one of the youth was supposed to marry with due consent of elders, took place at Melantabettu in Belthangady police station limits on Monday.
A complaint lodged with the police said Kishore, Kiran, Sunil, Vasanth, Prakash, Uday, Ganesh, Anand, Baby, Shashi and others attacked Dhananjaya (21), Vasanth (24), Vasantha K (21) and Rajesh (22) of Maddadka in Kuvettu village.
Dhananjaya was in love with a young woman of Kellakere and the two were even supposed to marry with due consent of their parents. Dhananjaya even used to stay in the girl’s house on some occasions. However his coming to the house and staying there was not acceptable to the neighbours. It is learnt, a relative of Dhananjaya who stayed close by the house of his lover was not happy with Dhananjaya who did not visit him even when he visited his fiance’s house. It is learnt, the relative had once even threatened Dhananjaya and warned him against visiting the young lady’s place. However when Dhananjaya had been to her house on Sunday the relative and his men attacked him. Following this Dhananjaya had lodged a police complaint and the police had even secured a bond from the accused. The same afternoon Dhananjaya and the three others were intercepted by a group of 15 to 20 persons and attacked. The injured youth are receiving treatment in a hospital.
