MANGALORE : “ The government’s utterly bad power policy has resulted in erratic power cuts in the state. This has adversely affected the studies of the students and will be reflected in the PUC and SSLC examination results,” observed senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Friday, he while referring to CM Yeddyurappa’s statement that his government would increase the power generation capacity of the state to 5500 mw in the next five year period, alleged that the government had not been able to increase the power generation even by one mw. He also demanded that the government produce a white paper on the power crisis.

The four power generation units of Raichur plant which generate 210 mw of electricity, have come to a standstill, due to the defective coal purchase policy of the government, he said.

“It would be a mirage to imagine that the power supply scenario in the state would improve,” Siddaramaiah said and alleged that corruption was rampant in the state.

Legislator and DCC President Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Chief Whip of State legislative council, Legislator UT Khader, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, Congress leaders Ivan D’Souza, Moidin Bava were also present at the press meet.
