“Govt buses on all routes if Volvo movement is obstructed”

Posted on Apr 11th, 2010 and filed under General.

UDUPI : “ If the private bus mafia in the coastal district create roadblocks for the AC Volvo buses operating on the Manipal-Udupi-Mangalore-Kasargod route, then it would be given a befitting reply by running government buses on all routes in the district,” Transport Minister R Ashok sent warning signals to the private bus operators in the district.

The minister was speaking after flagging off the Volvo buses of the KSRTC on the Manipal-Kasargod route, at Manipal on Saturday.

“I will welcome the healthy competition between the private buses and the Volvo buses of the government. I have already instructed the district administrations to initiate strict action against private bus operators if they create trouble for the government buses,” the minister further added.

“ When the private buses were reigning supreme in Mysore earlier as in case of the coastal districts, the government had pressed four government buses into service. But when the warning issued to private buses which troubled the government buses, went unheeded, I have seen to it that 145 government buses were pressed into service at once, giving a death blow to the private lobby,” Ashok said thereby giving clear warning to the private bus mafia in the district.
