Judge meets street kids in CWC custody

MANGALORE : The Dakshina Kannada CJM Judge AN Patan on Sunday visited the Child Welfare Committee office and enquired about the three children who are in custody of the committee. Earlier, the Karnataka Legal Services Authority Chairman Justice Gopalgowda who had registered a case in this regard voluntarily, had directed the district judge to file a report. The District Judge who is also the Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Board, in turn appointed AN Patan for investigations into the case.
The judge who met the children and also reviewed the statements of the children documented by the Child Welfare Committee is expected to report to the district judge on the steps need to be taken to ensure a good future to the three girl children. The District Judge will in turn forward the report to the Legal Services Authority Chairman.
It may be recalled here that a scribe who noticed the three girls clinging on the compound wall of KMC Hospital at Jyothi, inhaling the scent of petrol in a piece of cloth. The children were then caught and handed over to the CWC.
