Posted on Apr 25th, 2010 and filed under Local News.

MANGALORE: Residents of Alake in Mangalore obstructed the movement of fish laden lorries on Saturday in protest against the several problems posed by these lorries which sprinkle the stinking fish water on the road.

As many as three fish lorries were prevented by locals demanding action against the owners of the lorries who fail to take sufficient precautionary measures against inconveniencing the locals and other motorists who have to bear with the stinking water.

Deputy Mayor Rajendra who too was present and staged a protest on behalf of the locals said there was even the chance of vehicles skidding due to the oily fish water that gets sprayed on the road. Such sort of inconvenience, he said could be avoided if the fish transporters use good quality containers for transporting the fish.

Janardhan Kudva, Dayanand Pai and others took part in the agitation. The traffic police who arrived at the spot registered cases against the fish lorries that were inconveniencing locals.
