Seemanth Kumar is Mangalore Police Commissioner

MANGALORE : The state government has passed an order appointing Seemanth Kumar Singh, the present SP of Bellary as the first Commissioner of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate. He is expected to take charge in a couple of days.

Seemanth who had served as DK SP from 2000 end to the beginning of 2004 was a tough cop who invited the wrath of the Sangh Parivar resulting in his transfer. He had won appreciation for the way in which he handled the communal strife in Ullal and also in Suratkal and Farangipete.

Seemanth has also the experience of serving as SP in Mandya, and as DCP in Bangalore. His prior service in the region, would help in effectively discharging his duties as the Commissioner.

R Ramesh, Additional in-charge SP has been appointed DCP (Law and Order ) of the Commissionerate. He who has been additional SP since the past one year, would continue in both the posts until further orders.

The Western Range IGP Gopal Hosur has been handling the additional responsibility of Commissioner ever since the Mangalore Police Commissionerate has been operational.
