KASARGOD : A bride was reported to have made an attempt on her life by jumping into the sea upon realizing that the man she was going to marry already had a 20 year old son from his first marriage. The bride was however rescued by the guests who had come to the marriage function at the Twakkanad Trayambakeshwara temple near Bekal.
Apparently, the woman aged 32 years, a resident of Ravaneshwara was recently engaged to a middle aged man of Tamil Nadu origins staying at a rented quarters in Twakkapura. While both the bride and bridegroom were divorcees what the bride did not know was the fact that her man had a twenty year old son from his first marriage.
When after all the marriage rituals were over the bridegroom was reported to have expressed his difficulties in taking his newly wedded wife to his home. The bride who overcame with emotion at this juncture ran away from the marriage hall towards the sea along the Kasaragod – Kanhangad road. The guests who followed the bride could not prevent the latter from jumping into the sea waters. However they succeeded in rescuing her from drowning.
The newly wed couple was then taken to the Bekal police station where the matter was settled amicably and it was decided that the newly wedded couple would remain in the house of the bride.
