Abandoned baby to be entrusted to custody of issueless couple

UPPINANGADY: The medical officer of the District Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore is learnt to have assured an issueless couple that the abandoned kid traced by them below a tree at Bengila in Puttila village of Belthangady taluk, will be handed over to them within ten days after completing the legal formalities.

The Jarappa Poojari couple who found the female baby, had earlier expressed their wish to adopt and take care of the child. They had even consulted legal experts in this regard.

The couple had later on admitted the baby to Wenlock and had even informed the police. However, the police have said that they cannot hand over the child to the custody of Jarappa Poojari couple without any further investigation. The couple which is issueless is hoping that it would get the custody of the baby at the earliest.

Meanwhile, even Wenlock Medical officer has assured to hand over the child to the couple within ten days.
