Bantwal Shoot-out : Accused still at large

Posted on Sep 9th, 2009 and filed under Crime/Mishaps.

BANTWAL : Police have so far remained clueless regarding the assailants who fired at the Suresh Baliga Jewellers on the main road here, days after the incident. Even the formation of three squads by the SP has been of no avail and the case is only turning more mysterious.
Except for the suspicion that the assailants might have used a stolen bike to come to the spot, police could not lay their hands on any other clue so far. Police have also expressed doubts if at all the glass panes of the jewellery shop were damaged by bullets. Even the threat call received by Suresh is being doubted. As far as the earlier threats received by Suresh Baliga are concerned, it has already been confirmed that the telephone was made from a public call booth in Saudi Arabia, in the name of Madoor Yusuf.
Moreover, investigations have now revealed that the latest threat call received by Suresh Baliga had nothing to do with Madoor Yusuf.
Meanwhile, it is being said that there were even chances of some communal elements playing a role behind the threatening calls.
