Chennai branch of CBI to probe Khazi death case

Posted on May 4th, 2010 and filed under General.

KASARGOD: There are all indications of the CBI taking up the investigation into the case of the mysterious death of Mangalore Khazi CM Abdullah Maulavi. Reports said the Chennai unit of the CBI would be taking up the probe in a couple of days. It is learnt, the authorities have decided to hand over the case to the Chennai unit of the CBI despite the CBI having a branch even in Kochi in Kerala.

Though the Kerala government had decided on March 14 to undertake a CBI probe into the case, the investigation had not kicked off and the probe continued at the Crime Branch level itself. It has now been gathered that the failure of the state government to send a written intimation to the CBI with regard to the incident, had led to the delay.
