UDUPI : “ Instead of shooting down Naxals, the government should give priority to provision of basic amenities to the people residing in Naxal affected areas,†Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, urged the government.
Speaking to reporters here he said Naxals will definitely witness a transformation if the people living in Naxal affected areas are taken well care of. He further observed that unless such a step is taken the menace would never see an end.
He said the Pejawar Mutt was spending Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs annually towards the development of Naxal affected areas and urged social organizations to come forward to help for the cause of the development of such areas.
When asked about the statement that was found in one of the handouts distributed by Naxals that all these are made just for the sake of publicity, the seer said “ My service has pleased the poor people living in the Naxal affected areas. It has also come in the way of the Naxal revolution.â€
To a question if he was ready for a negotiation with the Naxals, he said he was ready to mediate between the Government and the Naxals to find a solution to the problem.
