PADUBIDRI: An incident in which a girl from Sakleshpur who was admitted to an educational institute at Tenka Ermal, just a fortnight ago, walked out of the institute saying she could no longer stay in a place where she was harassed. The girl was later sent home by the police along with her parents. The incident took place at the educational institute run by one Baasu Saheb near Canara Bank in Tenka Ermal.
The student is learnt to have told the police that the situation in the institute was not conducive for the stay of the students. She has complained that the students were prevented from speaking to their family members over telephone and even watching TV. Moreover, it is said, students were made to clean the lavatory and also forced to do other tough jobs. The windows of the building were also so high that it gave the feeling of staying in a prison.
The police later summoned the parents of the student and the institute chief Baasu and after talks sent the girl along with her parents.
Mysterious institute
This institute said to have been opened a few months ago has until now maintained a mystery and no one has any information regarding the sort of education imparted to students in this institute. Huge compound walls have been erected around the building. There is no board displaying the name of the institute and the possibilities of this being a recognized institute are also remote.
Locals revealed to this correspondent of the attempts made by girls on earlier occasions too to escape from here. It is still not known as to what were the problem faced by students of this institute.
Majority of the gram panchayat members had even objected to the sanctioning of permit to the new building that was being raised inside the compound. Still, it is said the previous GP chief had granted permit for the building.
There is a strong feeling among the locals that the police department should undertake a thorough probe to find out what is going on inside the compound.
