It is very much heartening to read reports about several students committing suicide soon after the SSLC and PUC exam results were out.
We have to seriously consider the mental state of those students who choose to end their lives in a haste when there is still a bright future ahead for them . Students who are under immense pressure are suffering from mental depression which is eventually pushing them towards suicide.
There are several commercial minded people who run coaching institutes that offer coaching in various disciplines. The result-the students have such a hectic schedule right from 7 in the morning till 10 in the night. Today in this age of cut throat competition, we in a bid to make our children the most bright students, are snatching away from them their very childhood and their right to look at the world around them.
In a way we are all becoming selfish. Without bothering to know the mental state of the students we want them to tread the path chosen for them by us.
The parents are only hoping that finally their children would bring home a five figure salary and help them lead a contented life.
The student who is caught amid this ambition of his parents, considers that scoring high marks is itself his only aim. If those who succeed in the exams beam with pride, those who suffer failure, come to the conclusion that they are useless and are a burden on the society and their family.
Therefore, it is most important for parents not to consider the failure of their students as failure in life.
Securing low marks is not the end of everything and permanent closure of the doors of future. Sometimes, a failure in exams will also guide a student towards success in life. Therefore what teachers and parents need to impart their children is coaching in self-confidence and in the art of facing life boldly with confidence.
They should teach the students to accept both success and failure with a balanced state of mind. The students should be taught to live and not to die.
