BANGALORE: the Shiradi Ghat stretch of the road linking Mangalore with Bangalore is all likely to be concretized after the monsoons, thanks to the interest evinced in the project by Union Minister for Highways Kamalanath.]
Though the National Highway Department has repaired the road, it is all likely to return to its original state during the monsoons. With a view to find a permanent solution to the problem, the Centre has decided to allocate Rs 115 crores for the project.
An action plan of concretizing the Shiradi Ghat stretch of road on the NH 48 was prepared in the year 2009 and sent to the union government The proposal however remained in the cold storage following the legal battle on the issue of the irregularities that reportedly took place during the repair of the road in the year 2008.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by PWD minister CM Udasi had recently met the Union Highway Minister and explained to him the importance of concretizing the road and the meeting has finally yielded result.
