PUTTUR : Amith Kumar Singh who recently took charge as ASP of Puttur, has several challenges before him, particularly in the backdrop of the rising crime graph in Puttur.
Of late, several peace disturbing cases have been reported from here over trivial reasons. There is also the presence of several organizations which take advantage of minor issues and then give them communal colour. There is a general feeling that such communal minded organizations should be kept at check as otherwise they would continue to sow the seeds of hatred in the name of religion in college campuses.
Leave apart these cases, there have even been several cases including theft and murder that have still not been resolved. eg The theft in the Udupi MP’s house in Puttur, the mysterious death of St Philomena College student Uttappa and the case of murder of Mohak Kumar, a student of Canara Engineering College of Benjanapadavu and the Tingalady Umesh Rai missing case and the Geetha missing case of Eshwaramangala.
The new ASP has the daunting task of giving a momentum to the investigation into these cases and resolve them at the earliest.
It is only when the new ASP takes steps in this direction that he can help the police department here regain the lost public confidence.
