MANGALORE : The police department here has initiated the process of transferring records pertaining to criminals of the state, to the neigbouring Kerala with a view to crack down inter-state criminal activities.
Western Range IGP Gopal Hosur has informed that inter-state criminal activities can be restricted to a great extent with due cooperation of the neighbouring states. He also pointed out the fact that the Karnataka Kerala border has proved a haven for criminal elements.
He said already the records of the district wise address of the 650 hardcore criminals of the state, have been handed over to senior police officials(DG, IGP and SPs) of Kerala.
On this occasion, the IGP revealed that most of the cases traced and the 120 criminals arrested during the past six months had links with criminal networks beyond the state.
The IGP also informed that the department has taken a re-look of the nearly 165 cases registered here under the anti-drug trafficking act as many of the cases reported in the recent past, seems to have a link with drug trafficking.
Speed Boats : Gopal Hosur informed that two modern speed boats will be operating round the clock to ensure safety of the coastal region and also to facilitate busting of inter-state crime networks.“ Our personnel are doing their best in controlling criminal activities. Still much more works can be expected from them,†the IGP said.
