MANGALORE: The Students Federation of India which has strongly condemned the state government moves to make it mandatory for government and aided higher primary schools to secure the books published by the Rashtrottana Sahitya Parishat has described this as an attempt towards saffronization of education by trying to incorporate communal agenda in education. The SFI has also warned of severe protest if at all the government implements this scheme.
In a press communiqué, Jeevanraj Kuttar, District Secretary of SFI, has said that it was condemnable on the part of the government to pursue communal agenda in the educational field instead of bringing about reforms in the education field and providing better infrastructure to government educational institutions at a time when privatization of education has made education beyond the reach of poor.
Referring to the government moves to purchase books worth Rs 17 crores and making it mandatory for the legislators to provide allowance for the same under their quota, he said such a move was unjustifiable when there were several areas which were still devoid of development.
