MANGALORE: State Minister for Urban Development and Law Suresh Kumar who has expressed displeasure over the recent tussle between two City Corporation engineers over the alleged irregularities in the 8 per cent reserve fund scheme for Dalits, has directed the Commissioner to submit a report on the matter within 15 days.

The minister while participating in the progress review meet of the Mangalore City Corporation on Wednesday, all of a sudden questioned about the recent fracas between the Assistant Executive Engineer Lingegowda and junior engineer Shivaraj in the MCC office premises.

“Do you indulge in street fighting instead of doing good work? I have read your adventure tale in newspapers,” he mocked at the two officials. If Lingegowda was present at the meeting, Shivaraj had abstained.

The Minister directed the Commissioner to serve a notice to the erring officials and submit a report. Such incidents, the minister said would only bring disrepute to the government and the local administration.

It may be recalled here that the two engineers had quarreled after Lingegowda questioned Shivaraj for submitting two bills of a single project. When Gowda refused to clear the second bill, Shivaraj had attacked him only to be counter attacked.

A police complaint too had been lodged in this regard.
