Posted on Jun 13th, 2010 and filed under General.

BANTWAL : The people affected by the second vented dam project at Tumbay, have heaved a sigh or relief with the government saying it would maintain status quo as far as the second dam was concerned.

The Chief Minister’s secretariat, has informed that two vented dams would be constructed within a 10 km range from the present dam. The secretariat is of the view that the two dams would not only help in bettering water supply but would also in increasing the underground water level.

This information was provided by M Subrahmanya Bhat, Secretary of the Tumbay Vented Dam Affected People’s Action Committee.
