Let Yeddy float regional party

The present state of affairs of Yeddyurappa is really critical. Though in a parliamentary system of administration, a chief minister had the supreme authority to induct anyone into the cabinet or drop anyone, Yeddy is helpless in this regard. The CM who is committed to include Shobha Karandlaje and Somanna into the cabinet, is in no position to keep up his words.

Yeddyurappa had in fact shed tears when he had to drop Shobha from the cabinet owing to pressure from the mine Reddys a few months ago. But now, it’s been over a month since Yeddy realizing that the Reddy’s were becoming powerless thanks to the Governor’s action, thought of re-inducting Shobha into the cabinet (making her number two in the cabinet by assigning her the home portfolio). He even has the inevitability of securing justice to Somanna.

But the party’s big bosses Ananthkumar and Eshwarappa are not giving the green signal to the CM to induct just the two into the cabinet. They have given their own list of candidates, to be included into the cabinet along with Shobha and Somanna. Not just that, they have also stated in clear terms that they were opposed to making Shobha the number two in the state cabinet.

The CM is really in a fix. The cabinet expansion which was earlier supposed to be held in May was later put off to June second or third week. Now it is likely to take place prior to the assembly session or later on. Finally, Yeddyurappa may even drop the very plans of cabinet expansion.

The BJP which won the previous assembly elections banking upon the popularity of Yeddyurappa, has now tied his hands even when it came to cabinet expansion. Why should Yeddyurappa continue in such a party? It would be better for him to float a regional party instead of continuing in power as a helpless CM.

He need not run the administration as per the dictates of a few Delhi bosses or a couple of persons who consider themselves supreme. Will he uphold his dignity as well as that of Kannadigas by floating a regional party by joining hands with like-minded people?
