UDUPI : The ATM machine of the State Bank of India that was stolen from the ATM centre near the Manjunath Petrol Bunk, Kinnimulki, five days ago, has been found abandoned near the residential quarters belonging to the Brahmavar Sugar factory on Thursday.
The thieves, had broken open the machine with an iron rod and had escaped with the cash of around Rs 15 lakhs.
Police suspect the involvement of a few in Udupi and Brahmavar behind this burglary.
The sugar factory quarters has been lying vacant ever since the closure of the factory and this proved a boon to the thieves, to carry out their work.
The safety aspect of the newly opened ATM centre had been completely ignored by the authorities as was evident from the burglary that took place just 9 days after its inaugural.
