MOODBIDRI: The government staff are notorious for their lethargic nature which is also
cited as the main reason for the ineffective functioning of government. But what if they
snooze during duty hours ? Then God alone must save the common man.
This was the scene noticed at the KSRTC Traffic control room at Moodbidri when this
correspondent visited the place on June 29, Tuesday. If the government had sanctioned
the traffic control room for the convenience of the general public, the traffic controller
was seen having a good sleep by closing the doors during duty hours, along with one of
his friend.
When locals were enquired, they said this has been going on here since some time.
According to locals, the traffic controller who visits the town and has his food, later
returns to his office only to have a good sleep. There is something more interesting. This
man in slumber is not awakened even when the conductor of some bus that arrives at the
bus stand, drops in to record his timings. The traffic control room here which was under
the control of the Dharmasthala Depot is now under the BC Road depot.
It is learnt, already a complaint has been lodged with the authorities concerned against
this dereliction of duty by the traffic controller. Though an investigation has been done,
it seems it had no impact on the sleeping habit of this controller.
