BANGALORE : Close on the heels of the resignation of Lokayukta Justice Santosh
Hegde, even DGP Ajaykumar Singh is set to follow suit.
Already, he has expressed his resentment against the government by saying the
government’s stand was having an adverse effect on the functioning of the police
department. There is a chance of him quitting at any moment.
Sources revealed that Ajaykumar Singh was greatly displeased after a recent move of
the government in withholding the transfer orders of a few DySPs issued by the Police
Establishment Board.
Though Singh wanted to shunt tainted police officials, this was difficult to digest for the
CM, Home minister and the mine lords.
Already, several ministers in the state cabinet are learnt to have pressurized the Chief
Minister to drop Singh from the post of DGP fearing that his holding the post for a
longer time would create problems for them.
Singh, it is learnt, has come to the conclusion that it was better for him to quit, before he
was asked to do so.
Meanwhile, reports say the government was contemplating appointment of another senior
officer DV Guruprasad as DGP in case Singh quits his post.
