Bundh evokes good response in city

Posted on Jul 5th, 2010 and filed under Local News.

Mangalore: The bundh call given by the BJP and the Left Parties in protest against the
fuel price hike, evoked a good response in the city which observed a near total bundh.
Private as well as government buses were off the roads almost all over the district.
Schools, colleges, business establishments and banks were also closed and almost all
roads wore a deserted look. Except for a few two-wheelers and lorries no other vehicles
were seen on the roads.
It is believed that even the heavy rains and the bad roads might have refrained people
from moving out of their houses, in turn contributing to the success of the bundh.
Police had also stepped up security arrangements in order to prevent any untoward
incident.
