SIRSI: The sensational wedding between Chethan and Niveditha, ex-sanyasin and former
chief of the Sirsi branch of the Chitradurga Murugha Mutt, has taken a new twist with
Chethan’s mother complaining to the Chitradurga SP that her son had not yet attained the
marriageable age of 21, and requesting to nullify their marriage.
In her complaint, Nagaratnamma, Chethan’s mother has said her son was born on
February 1, 1990 and has not yet completed 21 years.
It is learnt that Chethan and Niveditha had first met during the 75th Kannada Sahitya
Sammelan held at Chitradurga in the year 2008. Though they had reportedly married
by exchanging garlands on June 6 itself, they had later decided to get married once
again at the Guddekal Temple at Shimoga after the authorities at the sub-registrar office
demanded proof for their wedding. But nowhere had Niveditha mentioned that she was
a sanyasin, but had introduced herself as Suvarna, which is her poorvashram name. Both
had even stated their age as 22.
Meanwhile, the luxurious living style of Niveditha in Sirsi has also become a hot topic
of debate. It is learnt, Niveditha though a sanyasin was leading a luxurious life in a posh
bungalow and enjoyed modern amenities like TV and air conditioner in her house.
