MANGALORE : Western Range IGP Gopal Hosur has said that nodal officers would be
appointed to exchange information regarding inter-district crime cases. The nodal officers
will also have the authority to investigate into the cases.
Speaking to reporters after participating in a meeting of senior police officials of DK,
Udupi, Chikmagalur, and Kasargod at the Karnataka Bank Hall in the city on July 21,
Wednesday, he hoped that the appointment of nodal officers would help in the early
resolving of several inter-district crime cases.
This is the first meeting held in Mangalore after a meeting of senior officials that was
held on January 11 earlier this year at Kannur to discus the criminal activities in border
areas.
The meeting held deliberations on law and order problems, terrorism and Naxal menace,
organized crime, cases of missing women and such other crime cases. It was decided to
exchange information regarding these cases and to take action within a time frame.
Hosur said the meeting even discussed the sand smuggling towards Kerala. He assured
that the officials concerned would try their level best to stop the smuggling and would
seek police help if necessary.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, SP Subrahmanyeshara Rao,
Kasargod SP Prakash, City DCP Mutturaya were present at the press meet.
