PUTTUR : “ Dakshina Kannada District Minister Krishna Palemar had a role to play
behind the permission granted by the Department of Mines and Geology, for sand
transportation from the coastal belt, despite a government as well as High Court order
against this. Palemar is on way of becoming a Reddy of the coastal district,†alleged
Prasanna Kumar, State President of the Janatha Party.
Speaking to reporters here he demanded that the Lokayukta should probe into the
complaints that Palemar was involved behind the missing of ore from the Belekeri port.
“ Palemar has earned in crores by smuggling sand from the district to Kerala. Now with
a sum of Rs 911 crore sanctioned for a permanent solution to sea erosion with World
Bank aid, there is a fear of even this fund getting misused. The minister is misusing his
authority,†Prasanna Kumar alleged.
“ The minister’s hand is suspected even in the Mangalore’s advocate Preetham missing
and suspected murder case. A writ in the High Court seeking for CBI probe into the
allegations alone is enough to explain his role in the case,†he argued.
He said “ The Chief Minister has maintained a silence despite the irregularities resorted
to by Palemar in the district. We will complain to the Governor, let the minister be
dismissed immediately,†he demanded.
