Udupi MLA defends collection of excess donation in Udupi govt college

Posted on Jul 26th, 2010 and filed under Politics.

UDUPI : “ The Udupi Legislator Raghupathi Bhat’s action of defending the
unauthorized collection of donation from students at the Government Girls’ PU College
at Udupi, only reveals the ignorance of the MLA,” the Udupi District Committee of the
Karnataka Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (Prof. B Krishnappa founded ), has alleged.
The Samithi has said that despite the government order number ED T.U. 2010 May 21,
2010, terming as unlawful any acceptance of excessive donations, the legislator has
been ignorant enough in stating that collection of donation was not illegal. He has also
spoken low about the Dalit leaders who have questioned this irregularity, the Samithi
alleged.
If the Dalit Samithi has sought information under RTI in order to expose the irregularity,
a theft drama has been enacted, the Samithi said adding the Legislator instead of directing
the cops to probe the case, was trying to hush up the case.
Shekhar Hejmady, District Convenor of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi, Ramesh
Kerarkalabettu, Organizing Convenor and other leaders have questioned why the Dalit
leaders were asked to enter into a compromise if there had been no irregularity.
The Samithi has demanded a thorough probe into the incident failing which it would
resort to a severe agitation.
