Novel protest by villagers against bad roads

Posted on Jul 26th, 2010 and filed under General.

MOODBIDRI : Villagers of Beluvai fed up with the inaction of the authorities in
repairing a kutcha road in the village, resorted to a novel protest recently by planting
plantain trees and paddy seeds on the water logged road.
The villagers complained that the road from Kana Temple upto Palakala sub-station was
in dire straits as the authorities had not evinced any interest in bituminizing the road. The
result- the road is filled with trenches and in the absence of proper side drains, water
logging was common every time it rained.
Residents of the locality have a tough time in passing through this road. The villagers
have also warned of severe protest if the local panchayat failed to repair the road at the
earliest.
