MANGALORE : If everything goes as planned, then KSRTC’s multi-axle Volvo ( B9 R Coach) and Mercedes Benz buses which are much popular in Bangalore, would soon be introduced in Mangalore.

According to KSRTC Divisional Controller MB Jaishanth Kumar six multi-axle buses and four Mercedes Benz buses will be introduced in Mangalore on a trial basis. If the latter will be pressed on the Mangalore-Bangalore and Mangalore-Tirupathi route, the multi-axle buses will operate on the Mangalore-Hyderabad route.

The multi-axle Volvo buses which are 1.7 meter long than the usual Volvo buses can accommodate 53 passengers as against 45 passengers sin the ordinary Volvo buses. They are Sweden made buses.

He also informed that the Mangalore-Udupi-Kasargod Volvo inter city bus services have been running profitably since their commencement, except in the month of July.

Stating that monsoons and the chill weather might have refrained people from going in for Volvo AC buses, Jaishanth Kumar hoped that the buses will continue to run under profit in the coming months.
