MANGALORE : It has been reliably learnt that a Christian religious head and a MESCOM employee were behind the attempts to hush up the case of police atrocities and human rights violation by the Mangalore Rural Police Station SI Prakash. It is also being said that the two have been successful in threatening the prime witness in the case and forcing him to issue an altogether different statement.
Meanwhile, a group is learnt to have threatened Gangadhar Shetty once again following suspicion that he had revealed the ‘truth’ during interrogation. A complaint has been lodged in this regard with the ACP.
It is learnt, the MESCOM employee who is also a gurkar of Adyarpadavu church ward had a personal enmity with his neighbour Justine Vas and had tried to have his way through the parish priest of Neermarga church.
On the other hand, it has come to light that Stanley Alvares who had recently hurled allegations against Justine and Joel Vas was not a person of the locality. It is also said that one Pushparaj of Sri Rama Sene had also poked his nose in the case after an attempt was made to change the lawyer by Dinaker Shetty.
The only welcome aspect is that Inspector Lingappa who is investigating into the case is planning to submit an unbiased based report to the Commissioner without succumbing to any pressure and that he had come to know the fact after interrogating Gangadhar Shetty.
The Mangalore Rural SI Prakash who is in the center-stage of this controversy had been appointed Chief of the SP’s Special Squad with the hope that he would do justice to his posting, But now the Squad is facing dissolution following several complaints against its personnel. Even the erstwhile Anti-Rowdy Squad was dissolved following similar complaints. Meanwhile, reports mentioned of the plans to constitute a CCB team in the wake of the functioning of the Commissionerate in Mangalore.
