PADUBIDRI : “ We do not want your assurances and promises but want a permanent solution to our problem,†this is the appeal made by the hundreds of people across the coastal line who are affected by the aggravating problem of sea erosion.
Tenka Ermal near Padubidri is one place which too is facing the brunt of sea erosion. Already several trees belonging to Giriappa Kotian of this village have been engulfed by the sea and even his coconut trees are in danger.
Several others here are facing similar problem and want the government to take concrete action instead of giving mere assurance.
The people fear the problem may be worse in the coming days with the intensifying monsoons and want the authorities to act fast. Already the several boulders dumped into the sea to prevent erosion, are falling prey to the mighty tidal waves.
Will a permanent solution to the problem be a mere mirage is now the question.
