Kadri Park proving haven for gays

Posted on Jul 30th, 2010 and filed under Local News.

MANGALORE: Kadri Park near KPT in Mangalore has of late alarmingly become a haven for gays who are seen in plenty in the park. It is common to see the gay men in compromising positions in the park least bothered about the embarrassment they cause to other visitors in the park.

The park which has already become a paradise for lovers has now become a paradise even for the gays, leaving little space for the general public who wish to come to this park for a morning or an evening stroll or to spend some time peacefully.

A group of gays which earlier was using a place near the public lavatory near the old service bus stand at Hampankatta for its activities, has shifted its base to Kadri Park after the lavatory maintenance was entrusted to some private agency following complaints of the menace of gays.

These gays who are first seen loitering outside the park, near the petty shops, later enter the park and begin their activities that cause embarrassment to other visitors.

There is a need for the authorities to maintain strict vigil in this park to put an end to the menace lest people may refrain from visiting this park in the near future.
