Madhura case now before Consumer Court
VITTAL: The case of Madhura who was deprived of being a beneficiary under the state government’s Bhagyalakshmi Scheme due to the gross negligence of Kepu village accountant and staff of the department of women and child development, has now been taken to the Consumer Court.
Madhura, is the first daughter of Gopalkrishna, Sumathi couple of Chelladka in Kepu village of Bantwal taluk. On 15-3-2008, her father Gopalkrishna belonging to scheduled tribe had applied at the Bantwal CDP office under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme. The then project officer of the office Shyamala after verifying the documents had even recommended the name of Madhura as a beneficiary under the scheme. But, the staff of the office instead of sending the file to the office of the Deputy Director of the Department in Mangalore, retained it with them. It was also complained that the officials in the CDP office in Bantwal even made Gopalkrishna run from pillar to post, just with a view to demand bribe from him. It was only when Gopalkrishna contacted the district office of the department that he realized that his file had not reached the office. After nearly 20 month long effort by Gopalkrishna, the file finally reached the District office. But by then the time limit that had been set to file applications had expired and the district office of the department returned the file on this ground on 5-5-2009.
Now, Gopalkrishna utterly tired with this policy of inordinate delay has finally moved the District Consumer Court, which has registered the case and has directed the respondents in this case to appear before the court.
