Who promised KMF Presidentship to DVS ? questions Savadi

Posted on Aug 5th, 2010 and filed under Politics.

BANGALORE: State Minister for Co-operation Lakshman Savadi has raised many an
eyebrow with his recent statement that “No one has assured former state BJP president
DV Sadananda Gowda of the KMF Presidentship. If Gowda is thinking so, it is merely
his illusion.” However, Savadi by saying so has justified the reports that the party had
deliberately made an attempt to sideline Gowda.
To a question as to whether DVS has been sidelined in the party, Lakshman Savadi
has said “No party leader including the Chief Minister has promised the post of KMF
Presidentship to Sadananda Gowda. If Gowda has resigned from the directorship of
KMF thinking so, we cannot do anything,”
Stating that he was unaware if Gowda was persuaded to quit the post of State BJP
presidentship, Savadi said he was under the belief that Gowda had resigned willingly.
“The tenure of a KMF president is for two years. Therefore, there is no chance of
displacing the preset chief Somashekhara Reddy. The BJP will not do so,” he said adding
Gowda was also not that ignorant to know that KMF can have a new president only if the
sitting president tendered his resignation.
He also made it clear that no one forcibly brought Gowda down from the post of state
BJP presidentship and that the present state BJP President’s faction had made no effort in
this direction.
He further said that the resignation of Gowda to the KMF Directorship has not reached
the government and therefore it would not be apt to speak about it now.
It were the words of frustration expressed by Gowda at a function recently that revealed
that he had quit the director’s post of KMF for the reason that he was not made the
President of KMF.
