KUMTA : Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniappa has assured a delegation of the Pashchima Karavali Railway Abhivridhi Sangha led by MP Oscar Fernandes which met him here, that the government would take a clear cut decision with regard to the demand to extend the Bangalore-Mangalore train upto Karwar and Mumbai-Karwar train upto Mangalore, before Independence Day.
The other demands put forth by the delegation are to increase the bogies of Matsyagandha Express by 21, to develop the Mookambika Railway Station and Gokarna Station as heritage stations, to introduce another passenger train between Mangalore and Madagaon, to start a push back train service between Bhatkal and Mangalore and constitute of a separate Mangalore Railway Division.
The delegation included Krishna Prasad Adyantaya, former managing trustee of Kollur Mookambika Temple, K Hanumantha Kamath, President of the Sangha, Rajeev Gaonkar, Vice President and K Venkatesh Kini, President of Byndoor Railway Yatri Sangha.
