BANGALORE : Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister J Krishna Palemar who
failed in his attempt to secure a stay order from the Bangalore City Civil Court against
Karavali Ale and Gowri Lankesh for publishing reports regarding him, has secured
a High Court stay order against the dailies publishing ‘false reports’ regarding him.
Earlier the Bangalore City Civil Judges Court -40 had declined his request to pass an
immediate and unilateral injunction to the respondents on the grounds that they were
defaming him by publishing false reports.
This forced Palemar to move the High Court where he complained that his reputation
would bite the dust if the newspapers continued to publish reports against him in the
wake of the failure of the lower court to issue an injunction order.
Consequent upon this, the High Court has passed a ruling and has served a notice to
Karavali Ale and Gowri Lankesh saying “Do not publish false reports against Palemar. If
you have anything to state, do it so before the court.â€
Prior to this, Palemar had served a lawyer notice to ‘Karavali Ale’ seeking a
compensation of Rs 2 crore to which the Karavali Ale had responded in an equally
lengthy reply.
But even before it could reach him, Palemar had moved the Bangalore Civil Court and
later the High Court.
