Students’ clash at university college campus : 8 injured

MANGALORE : Eight students were injured in a clash between two student groups at

the University College premises in Mangalore on August 10, Tuesday. The clash broke

out between students affiliated to the ABVP and the PFI over the issue of lecturer and

thinker Pattabhirama Somayaji participating in a function organized by the Popular Front

of India.

The ABVP affiliated students who boycotted classes on Monday demanding the

suspension of Pattabhirama Somayaji who spoke against the Sangh Parivar during a

protest. They also prevented other students from entering the classes. Simultaneously,

when Campus Front of India students raised slogans in favour of Somayaji , a clash broke

out resulting in injuries to eight. The police intervened to prevent any further untoward

incident.
