Treasure hunt in Vittal

Posted on Aug 19th, 2010 and filed under General.

VITTAL : Some unknown persons have searched for a suspected hidden treasure beneath

a huge rock in a field at Kupplucharu of Punacha village in Vittal.

Reports said a huge rock was found in the fields of Narayan Bhat of this village since

several years. Bhat however had purchased the land just four years ago and had found

something written on the rock in ancient script. This led to rumour that there was hidden

treasure beneath the rock.

On Nagarapanchami day when Bhat had been to his fields, he found the rock moved from

its original position and also noticed a small pit on the ground.

Locals say at least 10 to 12 persons might have come to push the huge rock. However,

there might not have been any treasure at the spot, argue some locals.

Two years ago, a similar attempt had been made in an ancient field near the Vittal Palace.

It may be mentioned here that some cheats had shown the newspaper reports in this

regard to a Mumbai based businessman and had looted him of lakhs of rupees.
