BANGALORE : Former minister and CM’s confidante Shobha Karandlaje who was
successful in persuading Yeddyurappa to announce pension scheme for the transgenders
just last week, has now been successful in getting the CM’s nod for the renovation of the
ancient Alasur Someshwara Temple in Bangalore.
Shobha who visited the temple along with the Chief Minister on August 18, Wednesday,
reminded the CM of the fact that the temple was a holy place which had been visited by
Sri Shankeracharya and that the once glorious temple was now lying dilapidated. She
was also successful in getting a Rs 10 crore grant from the CM for the renovation of the
temple. Sources revealed that the astrologers from Kerala who had visited the temple in
April last had suggested that the temple lake be rejuvenated and repaired and that both
Shobha and Yeddyurappa will have a good future in that case.
Later a Ashta Mangala Prashne was also conducted to further substantiate this by both
the CM and Yeddyurappa. During his visit to the temple the CM has directed the Mujrai
Department officials to clear all encroachments in the vicinity of the temple.
Meanwhile, the CM has said “ Why shouldn’t the temple be renovated when the state
would benefit from it? I have learnt from astrologers that the state would be benefited by
the renovation of this temple.â€
Yeddyurappa has also said that he would have no hesitation in suspending officials who
fail to complete the works as instructed by him within the time frame.
Of late, Shobha is once again seen in the company of the CM more than often and there is
a grouse among several ministers that the CM was paying more heed to Shobha’s request
rather than the request made by his cabinet colleagues.
