Lokayukta probe begins into case against Vittalmudnur jelly crushers

Posted on Aug 26th, 2010 and filed under General.

VITTAL : Lokayukta officials have visited Vittal to inspect the jelly crushers at

Boligadde in Vittalmudnur village in the wake of complaints from villagers against the

crusher units that have been posing problems to them.

The villagers are also furious against the local panchayat that permitted the jelly crushers

despite them objecting to the setting up of the unit. Even the several protests staged by

the villagers had proved futile courtesy the money power and the political power of the

crusher owners who enjoyed the due patronage of the local panchayat. The permission

granted to the crusher units by the revenue and mines department, had also proved a

great head ache to the villagers.

A villager named Vinay Kumar had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta Justice

Santosh Hegde on behalf of the villagers. The Lokayukta who took up the case, has

ordered for a thorough probe.
Accordingly, Lokayukta DySP Varnekar and his team of officials have visited the

village. The team which spoke to the villagers on the problems faced by them due to the

crusher units, have assured action against those crusher units found guilty.
