VITTAL: Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj has warned of legal action against those

shop keepers who fail to vacate their encroachments for road widening purposes.

The DC’s visit to Vittal on September 2, Thursday followed the failure of a handful of

shopkeepers to vacate their encroachments, while majority of the shopkeepers had agreed

to the request of the authorities who wanted them to let 16.5 feet from the middle of the

existing road.

The DC while appreciating the shopkeepers who have vacated their encroachments,

took to task the shopkeepers who failed to do so and requested all the shopkeepers to co-

operate in the process of development. In case shopkeepers failed to heed to the demand

then the encroachments would be evicted forcibly, he warned.

ZP Vice President H Jagannath Salian, Vittal GP Chief

Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak, Revenue officers Sridhar Gowda, DB Aboobakker and

PWD officials were present on the occasion.
