AIDWA honours BV See couple

BANGALORE : The three-day state conference of the All India Democratic Women’s

Association, was held at Bangalore recently. Hundreds of delegates from various parts

of the state took part in the conference which was inaugurated by Sudha Sunderaraman,

National Secretary of the Association.

Rohini S, Managing Director of Chitra Publications Pvt Ltd which brings out Karavali

Ale and BV Seetaram, Managing Editor of Karavali Ale Group, were felicitated on the

occasion for their crusade against the oppression by the government and their untiring

efforts to protect the Freedom of Press.

Responding to the felicitation, BV Seetaram explained how he along with his wife was

pushed behind bars as a part of the conspiracy by communal minded lobbies and those

at helm of affairs, who could not tolerate the newspaper’s policy of exposing the lacunae

in the system. He also reiterated the newspaper’s commitment to protect the interests of

the society.

Rohini S who also spoke, emphasized the need for parents to provide equal education

and opportunities to their children without any gender bias.

On this occasion, Shivamma who fought against caste based oppression and Narasamma,

who launched a fight against the atrocities by a quarry contractor, were also honoured.

In her key-note address, Sudha Sunderaraman, stressed the need to build-up pressure on

the government in favour of the women’s reservation bill that is pending clearance.
