PADUBIDRI : Padubidri police have been accused of abetting with a person who was
making a move to forcibly lay an approach road to his property, on the land belonging to
his neighbour.
Gulabi Poojarti, the rightful owner of the land at Bada Ermal has alleged that a neighbour
named Sarojini Shetty by colluding with a contractor Kishore Shetty, was forcibly laying
an approach road to their land, through her land. It is learnt, the labourers belong to them
began removing the plants in the area, despite opposition from the rightful owners of the
land.
The Padubidri police who finally arrived after a local influential person informed them,
asked the accused not to proceed with the works and summoned the two parties to
the station. However, it is said though Gulabi Shetty produced her land records, the
police who initially postponed the enquiry into the case for a few days after warning
the accused, later arrived at the spot and tried to project the complainants themselves
as the accused.Gulabi Shedti has also alleged that the police had threatened her and got
her consent to settle the case through talks after measuring the land as per the request of
the accused. She says Sarojini Shetty wanted to construct the approach road through her
(Gulabi) land illegally as she otherwise could not sell her land which does not have an
approach.
