Shobha’s comeback would mean loss of peace to Yeddy

It is said that man is more drawn towards attractions that are fatal. The same may be

the case with the undue interest evinced by Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in Shobha

case. Yeddyurappa who is now hell bent upon reinducting this Puttur girl into the

cabinet, should first try to recollect the factors that forced him to drop Shobha from

the cabinet earlier. It seems as of now he has not taken serious cognizance of the grave

consequences in case Shobha was reinducted into the cabinet.

No one can deny the fact that Shobha was an eye sore not only to other members of

the cabinet bus also to senior leaders of the party, when she was a minister more so

because she had begun to exercise authority which she really did not have, merely by

misusing her proximity with the CM. It was owing to this reason that the campaign “

Shobha Hatao, Party Bachao” kick started , ultimately resulting in her departure from

the cabinet. Ever since Shobha moved out, Yeddyurappa did not face much problems in

administration. Even the party is aware that any green signal to reinduct Shobha into the

cabinet, would only be an invitation to trouble and it is for this reason that until now the

party core committee and the high command has not yet said ‘yes’ to the proposal. Even

the party leaders in the state have the fears that the CM may distance himself from them

in case Shobha makes a comeback.

Moreover, the Bellary trio is all certain to oppose such move and even the Eshwarappa-

Shettar-Ananthkumar faction may be of the same view. Earlier, when Shobha used to

brief the press on the cabinet proceedings, by sidelining home minister VS Acharya, the

latter could not hide his resentment in front of TV cameras.

There is a general feeling among all cadres of party hierarchs in the state that Shobha

was not eligible for the priority attached to her. Moreover, there are several senior women

in the party who have strived hard for the party. One instance is that of Shakuntala Shetty

of Puttur who finally had to quit the party unable to bear the frustration. It is now the

right time to bring her back to the party fold. There is another leader Vimala Gowda who

has been active in the party affairs since long. Why can’t she be given a cabinet berth ?

The CM could also have very well inducted actress Shruthi into the cabinet, considering

her efforts towards the party victory. Why it is that Yeddyurappa wants only Shobha and

no other woman colleague in the cabinet ?

One thing that is sure is that in case Yeddyurappa reinducts Shobha then he will lose his

present peace of mind. He would only be giving an opportunity to the media as well as

his party men to irritate him. It is better for Yeddyurappa to take a step forward after

considering whether it would be right to hand over the whip and then take the beatings

too.
