KARKALA: A cheetah that entered human inhabitation in its bid to chase a dog, fell into

a well and was eventually rescued by the forest staff and locals at Palli near here on the

night of September 4, Saturday.
The cheetah which was probably wild with hunger had desperately chased the dog which

in its bid to escape fell into the well, only for the cheetah to follow. The well belonged

to Poovappa Sapaliga. Both the dog and the cheetah were trapped in the well in different

sides.

The forest staff who arrived let down a ladder for the cheetah to come up. They were

also ready with a net and a cage to see that the wild animal did not escape. The operation

lasted for nearly three hours and the cheetah finally came up and was trapped in the cage.

It was later let free in the Kudremukh forest area.

Hundreds of curious villagers had gathered to witness the operation cheetah.
