BANGALORE: If the state cabinet is rocked by one scandal or the other, thanks to some
of the ministers who are hitting headlines in corruption and sex scandals, Yeddyurappa
could do nothing much but tender apology for the same. The latest list to the scams is that
of medical education minister Ramachandra Gowda. The minister’s involvement in the
recruitment scandal to the medical education department is an old story now.
There are ministers who are facing charges of cheating, misbehaviour and financial
irregularities. If a couple of them have been dropped, it may not be any surprise if the
CM asks some more to quit.
BJP sources revealed that the days are not far off when the allegations against
Ramachandra Gowda regarding his involvement in the recruitment scandal of non-
teaching staff of Mysore and Hassan medical colleges, are proved. Sources also revealed
that CM would soon direct the tainted minister to quit.
Krishnayya Shetty was minister for mujrai and housing in 2008, and was involved in
irregularities in the Karnataka Housing Board. A CBI probe had revealed that he had
availed Rs 7.17 crores by producing forged documents to a bank.
Social Welfare Minister D Sudhaker is facing charges of cheating a nationalized bank to
the tune of 5.50 crores. But, so far Yeddyurappa has not initiated any action against him.
Even Janardhan Reddy, Somashekhara Reddy and Sriramulu have proved a bane to the
CM.
A CID probe is presently underway against Haratal Halappa who is facing the charges
of raping his very own friend’s wife. Just recently, the labour minister Bachegowda had
thrashed a youth owing to some previous enmity. The only thing the CM could do is to
tender an apology. He has realized from the Shobha Karandlaje incident that his chair
would be in danger if he raised voice against corrupt ministers.
